Special focus: heartbreak, fear of loss, commitment anxienty

In January 2017, a woman on vacation told me about The Work of Byron Katie over breakfast. Since that moment, this ingenious method has been my daily companion for all problems big and small, from annoying neighbors to deep-rooted trauma. Because the method helped me so much, I decided to train as a coach for The Work.

The Work of Byron Katie

“The Work of Byron Katie is a way to identify and question the thoughts that cause all the suffering in the world. […]

Byron Kathleen Reid became severely depressed while in her thirties. […] Then one morning, from the depths of despair, she experienced a life-changing realization. Katie saw that when she believed her thoughts she suffered, and that when she didn’t believe her thoughts she didn’t suffer. What had been causing her depression was not the world around her, but what she believed about the world around her. […]

As a result, a bedridden, suicidal woman became filled with love for everything life brings. Katie developed a simple yet powerful method of inquiry, called The Work, that showed people how to free themselves.”

Inner Child Work

In psychology, the totality of our imprints from childhood is referred to as "the inner child", a metaphorical idea of earlier versions of ourselves that live on within us. The inner child tries to protect us from negative experiences from the past and longs to satisfy unfulfilled needs from childhood.

It is well known that our subconscious influences our behavior, thoughts and feelings far more (about 80-90%) than our conscious mind.

We often experience anxiety without knowing exactly why. In such moments, it is often the inner child that is afraid of having to relive traumatic experiences. Although the adult mind knows that a threatening situation has long since passed and we are safe, the inner child does not have this knowledge. It is therefore very important to establish a loving connection with the inner child and reassure it that it is now safe.

Nonviolent Communication

With the help of the lists of feelings and needs of nonviolent communication and Renate Waschek's "Discover Your Treasure Exercise", we look at a certain situation and we find out what feelings this situation has triggered in us, which needs were met in this situation and which were not met, and find strategies for how we can fulfill these needs without needing another person to do so.

Publications

A few years ago I suffered a lot from heartbreak and read a few guide books, but they didn't help me much. It was only by applying The Work of Byron Katie combined with other methods that I was able to free myself from all the pain of separation. I am so infinitely grateful for this and therefore it was my wish to share it with everyone who suffers from heartbreak.

The English version of my book is expected to be published in 2025.

My second book about how to recognize and overcome fear of commitment and fear of loss with the help of The Work and inner child work is expected to be translated in 2025.

As soon as they are available in English, you will find a link here.
